Have you been disturbed with your smile for years? Even with adequate dental care, millions of Americans suffer from gum disease and tooth loss. Not only can be damaged or missing teeth, risky and unhygienic to your health, but they can also considerably affect your self-confidence.
At Marine Hills Dentistry in Federal Way, Washington, we provide advanced dental implants to help overcome your missing tooth problems and showcase the best version of your smile.
What Is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a titanium piece surgically implanted into the jawbone, imitating and replacing the missing tooth root. Later the implant is covered with a natural-looking prosthetic tooth. As a result, the replacement implant will never loosen while eating or talking and restore your smile appearance.
Who Needs Dental Implants?
Dental implants provide an exceptional solution to replace a missing tooth due to tooth decay, gum disease, an injury to a tooth that cannot be repaired, or a failed root canal therapy. If the missing tooth's gap is not addressed, it can allow the surrounding teeth to occupy that space and change how you eat, speak, or look. When a tooth goes missing, the jawbone stops receiving any stimulation, and that area will begin to decline. A dental implant will prevent the harmful consequences of missing teeth. It will be just like having your natural teeth again, only better!
Benefits of Dental Implants
Dental implants will improve your oral health since you no longer worry about bacteria accumulating underneath dentures or bridges. Dentures can cause speech to sound slurred if loose in the mouth, but dental implants also improve speech quality. Since the implants are placed in the gums, the replacement teeth are attached to the metal post, creating a permanent bond. So, dental implants improve durability as well!
The Dental Implants Process
The first step is determining your suitability for dental implants based on a few criteria. Dr. Dennis Hahn will discuss the procedure during your consultation, including the required number of implants, the possible treatment duration, and expenditure.
The next step is the placement of the implant stud into the jawbone. Before starting the implantation, local anesthesia is given to make you comfortable. Once the affected area is numb, we will insert the metal stud in your jawbone and suture the incision.
The implant will fuse to the jawbone for the next few months and create a solid base for the prosthetic crown. Once your jaw heals, we will attach the abutment to the dental implant and top it up with a crown restoration.
